You didn’t think the Defensive Specialist would
head all the way to the United States without bringing the loyal readers something
special did you?
As coincidence would have it, the Defensive
Specialist’s trip to New York coincided with the Atlanta Braves playing the New
York Mets. The Defensive Specialist cracked open his little black book and dialed
up Braves reliever Peter Moylan for a little one-on-one. Moylan is particularly
passionate about Australian baseball and is only too happy to promote the game.
Arriving on a rainy Sunday morning, the Defensive
Specialist entered the Hyatt Grand Central and was immediately struck by how
opulent the place was (granted, it was somewhat of a step down from the boutique
hotel that the Defensive Specialist was staying at). The Defensive Specialist
was greeted by Moylan who was fighting off autograph hounds and escorted to his
suite for the scheduled interview.
A couple of key points
1) Peter was remarkably well dressed
for a Sunday morning in pants and shirt although he later confirmed that
players were not allowed in the hotel lobby in jeans or shorts
2) The room was incredibly spacious
by New York standards
3) Moylan’s wardrobe and game day
attire was impressive
4) He isn’t very good at ironing
With the team expected at the field in a
short while, Moylan was gracious with his time and gave the Defensive
Specialist a little insight.
